Moving out and away from your comfort zone
Can you imagine if God, one day told you, like how he told Abraham in Genesis 12, “Leave your country, your people, and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you…”
Sometimes I wonder if God were to tell me something similar, that I will be able to do the same. Leaving your comfort zone, going to uncharted waters, doing something that you’ve never done before…
Even as I ponder about this thought, it holds the same in many things that we do. Our apprehension when it comes to a new environment, undertaking a new ministry, starting a new relationship, all these, requires us to move away from our comfort zone, it requires us to embrace change and transformation. Sometimes, we just hold back when it comes to new things. Many times, we don’t adapt to changes around us, but we try to change our new environment to fit to our old system.
God has given us promise after promise in His Word, that He will always be with us. Sometimes, we forget that, and we tend to go back to the way of familiarity, to our comfort zone. What ever happened to the element of Faith?
What is God asking you today, to do something, something new, bold, creative, exciting? Or are we contented with what we have?

I figured I’d better put in an entry before I forget what happened in this part of my life. By the way, I woke up this morning, bathed, had my breakfast, came back to my table and thought to myself “since when did I put on my contact lenses? Or did I forget to take them off last night?”
So absent-minded. Gah!
This week has been “chiong AED105″ essay week. Most of which was contributed by JonWong. Hehe. At least now it’s 95% done! Just have to look through and make amendments here and there.
It is now the 10th week of school (if i’m not wrong), and I can’t believe in about about a month’s time, the first semester of my NIE life has been whoof-ed by. It hasn’t been all smooth-sailing but at least I enjoy what I do here. Assignments and essays are still ugh, but I do get a certain sense of satisfaction/achievement when its done. *thinking of my 2 music essays + AED102 essay makes me UGH now*
Met up with the 2 girls about a week back. One of the funnest meet-up I’ve had with them

And I like to spoil their pretty glam photos by doing this…

See what I mean?
Anyway…Christmas is coming!!!! Hahaha. On one hand, I cant wait for it to come, on the other, I wonder what my plans for Christmas this year would be like. Doubt the parents will be around. IZ would probably have some church thing at NCC, Ele will be back but I’m pretty sure she’ll find her own things to do (?), so that’s left with Ivan and me. Hmm.
And finally! Year end holiday has been fixed..excitedddd!
Sorry Jon, our 12-12 has to be postponed

Don’t give me that look!!!! Lol.

I really miss my hair. It was Rapunzel long and even though most of it had grass texture because it wasn’t well kept and had the lousy colouring from the Philippines, I miss the length of it
OKAY THIS IS UBERLY RANDOM.

Fast approaching week 7 of school. Time is really flying by! I thought I just started school O.o
Nevertheless, really thank God for this opening into NIE. I’ve never enjoyed school more than this. I finally know what it means to be doing something I love. Thank God for the wonderful wonderful friends I have. Hanging out with the Malay and Indian girls reminds me of Shikin and Niki, and brings back the fond albeit few memories of MJ
I <3 multi-racial friends!!
School work hasnt been the easiest of easiest. At least I’m still QUITE consistent in my readings for Lit. Music is the killer
I’ve got to catch up really badly but thank God for the wonderfulll guys who are soo pro and yet willing to help someone as noob as me.
Okay, enough of school. Last few posts have all been about school school and school! Haha.
BOWLING!
Went to Kallang Bowl 2 weeks back with some of the cell people. Awesome fun even though my nail broke
Was majorly upset initially but decided not to be retarded over a broken nail.

No idea what Jon was thinking.
The guys

The girls ♥

Pardon the zi lian photo of myself. It was my only strike of the day. Hahaha!
LIFE!
Its actually quite scary to know that 2009 is fast coming to an end. This coming Friday would be the exact day one year ago that I met Jon at Tung Ling graduation. Its been a YEAR?? Well, I thought my 2008 year would be the only exciting year I’d have, but I think 2009 will prove to be just as exciting.
Looking forward to the family holiday at the end of the year!

Out of here. Spending my Hari Raya holiday to finish up work work work! ![]()

Honey moon period is soooo over.
Stare at it and it’ll stare back at you.
Start moving it and maybe one day it’ll disappear from your line of vision.

School work’s coming up!!
Really requiring alot of discipline and energy from me. Nearly 1.5 years of not really doing anything, suddenly developing a consistency to read my notes (before class) is rather challenging. As much as most people think that Music is gonna be a slack slack subject for me. So NOT. It’s the subject requiring the most energy and time from me. 2 lessons a week, 2 ensembles to join, 1 specialised “instrument”(vocals). Btw, I don’t dread any of these (except one lesson =p). I enjoy going for my ensembles – one’s a pop band, the other’s a vocal ensemble. Its just that it takes up alot of time. Right. I shall stop ranting.
The 3rd week of school has come to an end. Made new friends. I ♥ the Lit girls. ♥♥♥ ALOT. And one of them is an indian Bimbo. ♥ to the MAX. She’s super hyper and cute, with no sense of what it means to speak softly in the library. Hersoft/whisper is like my normal talking voice :p But anyhows, the Lit girls have been awesome and they all speak in English so that’s like a major bonus already
Another highlight of the week just happened ytd, when Jon lent me his car for the day!
So I had to drive to school myself after dropping him in church, drove home myself, had Bible Study ♥ then go to church to pick him up after his prayer meeting. It was ALOT of driving but I loved every single minute drivinggg! And it totalled to nearly 3/8 of his tank’s petrol =x I’m doing my part to contribute to the petrol fund okay
Gonna be off to church in a few hours!
Changes in life are never easy especially when you’re stepping into an unknown.
New friends, new environment, it all sounds great – but at the end of the day, you’re the only one I look forward to.
Hold my hand and walk with me, trust me when I say I’ll never let you go ♥

The first week of school at NIE has come to an end. Its been such an exciting week, meeting new friends, learning more about my core subjects and really immersing in the Uni life.
Main highlights of uni life thus far :
1) New friends have been awesome! While the H1N1 saga has been quite a big huha in Singapore, I’m quite glad that because of it most of the orientation camps at NIE were cancelled. So when school started, everybody was really ‘on’ to make new friends rather than “i already have a clique of friends so no need to make new friends”. Yea that’s what I got in SIM =x
The Lit and Music people have been fantastica! Really enjoying their company, all sorts of different kinds of people in class, and I’m glad our classes are small so everybody knows everybody! Yay!
Met new people at GESL today. Its basically a class where 20 people from very different courses get together and we start this service learning project. Funny bunch. And got sabo-ed to be one of the two facilitators
Ahh, not that I’m upset to be a facilitator..but yea, just mixed feelings luh. On one hand, I know that it’ll be good for my portfolio and also a good experience handling yet another group. But the brain energy and the extra time needed to attend a facilitator course and possible additional meetings..that’s quite the turn-off?
OKAY enough! Elizabeth Eng! You must learn to be more hardworking. Stop being a couch potato/lazy bum!
2) My core subjects – Lit and Music – are pretty interesting so far! Hopefully it stays this way
The Lit people are very Lit-ty, in a way .. .everybody speaks up in class. Its quite a proactive kinda discussion. And that’s where I’m somewhat weak in. Anywhere else, in a more relaxed setting, I can blabber on non-stop about everything under the sun. But when it comes to a classroom setting, and discussing intellectual stuff, and I’m forced to think fast, that’s where the problem sets in. Heh. Gotta train my brain to move faster!
Music lesson. Hmm, if listening to a 1.5 minute song and discussing it for 3 hours sounds awesome to you.. Then music class has been fantastic. LOL! Well, its gonna be like this for the next few weeks so I guess I have to be paying more attention to what I’m listening and learn how to analyse and critic a piece of music that sometimes sounds REALLY foreign.
Went for an audition today with prof Chia. Wanted to switch from taking piano as my Major instrument to doing vocals instead. So he had to assess whether I was up to a certain standard..i think? So anyway, went for the really cool audition – it seemed more like a free vocal lesson! – and Praise God! Prof Chia agreed to take me as his student
The week has been great! And I’m really looking forward to school next week
Just to end off this post, this is to the dearest Jon..
Thank you for being my driver this entire week. I really am grateful for you and your car and your time. Oh, and also letting me abuse your car by driving it. You’re the BEST
(Oh people, I already have my license!)

Days have been filled with dirving lessons day in and day out. Sleeping at 12am, waking up at 11am. That’s nearly 12 whole hours of sleep!! =x
School’s starting in exactly a week’s time. Excited! Yet, at the same time, nervous about what the school environment will be like, friends I will mix with, what the school curriculum would turn out to be.
Specialising in English Lit would really be a sort of “eye opener”. Even though I’ve been doing Lit since Sec school till As, it hasn’t exactly been my best of best subjects and somehow there’s this certain “FEELING” about Lit teachers. Like, this very “english” feel.
Okay I shall stop flaunting my weird english. =x
Just to end of this random post…

Had dinner ytd with Jon’s sec school guys.
For those who are lovers (and i mean, extreme lovers) of ALOT of meat, feel free (not exactly “free” since the price is quite steep for a non-working person like me) to go down to Sixth Avenue and get a taste of the tender, glorious meat at Brazil Churrascaria.
It’s what i call Meat Galore!
A pity I didnt bring my camera, but I found a blog that has loads of photos.. So click HERE if you wanna have a sneak peak of what we had
Jon also had a whole group of waiters sing a “happy birthday” song to him in who-knows-what-language. Pretty hilarious but cute! And kudos to the friends who gave him a birthday treat so we only paid half of what the original would have been.
Yipee!
